Faye  H. Gray, who began her 25th year on the staff May 1,1988, was cited for her meticulous handling of complicated financial details, her foresight, her reliable memory for history and precedent, her conscientious helpfulness and her “sometimes sorely tried but always unfailing courtesy.”

The Croft Business School graduate spent 15 years in the campus’s accounting operation before joining the College of Arts and Sciences in 1978.

As financial assistant to the dean, Gray was responsible for overseeing the budgets of 29 departments, 14 curricula and 12 programs. Those units had a total annual operating budget of more than $50 million. She solved budget problems for those units and also was involved in processing student and non-faculty personnel forms.
