Ned A. Comar, who joined the campus police force in 1974, had written and produced numerous educational materials on crime prevention for students, faculty and staff. This included pamphlets and posters on topics from “How to Lock a Door” to “Dealing with Rape,” as well as slide shows and topicss for local radio broadcast.

He was commended for working overtime to present his specialized crime prevention programs to various campus groups. The award cited him for “his outstanding contribution to making Carolina a better place to live and work.

“Any list by the University’s students of persons who have helped them most in their daily lives here would show (this) one campus policeman near the top.”
