William R. Andrews joined the University in 1972. He was cited for his superior and meritorious performance in keeping the University beautiful.

As a grounds laborer in the buildings and grounds division of the Physical Plant, his assignments included pruning shrubbery and weeding in several parts of campus in and around the South Building and Memorial Hall areas. He also helped in landscape projects, snow removal and preparations for Commencement and University Day.

Despite being deaf, Andrews “has mastered this work and has done it diligently, lovingly, devotedly, and well on fine days and foul ― all to the great benefit of his fellow citizens of the University,” his citation read.
